The Writing Grove
Privacy
The Writing Grove is a free writing game made by Ms. Hart for 4th graders. This page explains, in plain words, what the game does and does not do with information.
What stays on the device
When a student plays, the game saves the avatar they picked, the name they typed, their level, scores, and awards in the browser on that device (“local storage”). It never leaves the device on its own. The Log out button erases it.
Nothing is sent anywhere
The game has no accounts and does not send a student’s name, scores, or anything else to a server. A student may save their own report card as a picture on their device; that picture stays wherever they save it.
What we do not collect
- No accounts, email addresses, passwords, birthdays, or photos.
- No advertising, no analytics, and no tracking cookies.
- No location, no contacts, and no microphone or camera use.
- Students’ writing is never collected. The game only asks them to pick answers.
Technical notes
Our hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify students.
Children
The game is made for children ages 9 to 10 and collects no personal information. A student can use a nickname instead of their full name.
Clearing saved information
To clear what is saved on a device, use Log out, or clear the site’s data in the browser.
Changes
